Energy Efficiency and Management: A Natural Responsibility for Borsan Cable
With a strong legacy of 40 years, Borsan Cable is ranked among Türkiye’s top 500 industrial enterprises and is a brand accepted into the TURQUALITY® Program. The company exports value-added products to nearly 100 countries across a wide geography and places sustainability at the core of its business with a holistic approach.
As part of its integrated business and sustainability strategies and its commitment to sustainable production and cost optimization, Borsan Cable will carry out investments worth approximately USD 3.3 million in Energy Efficiency and Management in 2025. Following a consistent investment plan in this area, the company previously invested over USD 8.1 million (TRY 300 million) in Renewable Energy Usage, Energy Efficiency and Management between 2022 and 2024. Accordingly, the total investment amount realized and planned for the 2022–2025 period has reached approximately USD 11.5 million at current exchange rates.
Borsan Cable CEO Arbek Akay stated that the company’s 2025 Energy Efficiency and Management projects are focused on three main areas: technological transformation in production processes, industrial heat and insulation solutions, and the use of renewable energy. He said: “In addition to our ongoing solar energy investments, we are implementing improvement actions at designated points to reduce manual processes and make our production lines smarter and more energy-efficient. With innovative technologies such as laser systems, we both optimize energy consumption and increase our capacity. Our investments in energy efficiency and management, in line with our focus on digital transformation, also contribute to making processes faster and more effective, while minimizing production errors.”
Energy Efficiency and Management: A Natural Responsibility for Borsan Cable
As a leading manufacturer of copper and aluminum power cables, special cables, and low-current cables, our core mission is to ensure uninterrupted energy transmission for a greener future. With our passion for customer-focused excellence, commitment to quality, and strong R&D and production capabilities, we bring added value to our customers’ businesses and people’s lives across Türkiye and in nearly 100 countries on 4 continents.
Ensuring the highest level of green energy transition, energy efficiency, and energy management in the industrial sector is a natural responsibility for us. The total investment amount realized and planned between 2022 and 2025 has approached USD 11.5 million at current exchange rates—and our investments will continue.
Industry Accounts for Over 40% of Electricity Consumption
Borsan Cable CEO Arbek Akay continued: “According to reports by research institutions, the industrial sector—which accounts for the largest share of electricity consumption—consumed more than 40% of total electricity during the first half of 2024. On the other hand, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has outlined energy independence, supply security, and the 2053 Net Zero target as key priorities in its ‘Energy Transition – Renewable Energy 2035’ roadmap. In this context, the steps taken by industrial companies toward energy efficiency are of great importance for Türkiye to reach its carbon neutrality goals. As a responsible company, we are proud to contribute to this transformation of the Turkish industrial sector.”
Borsan Group Sets the Stage for Nearly USD 210 Million in Investment
Emphasizing that Borsan Group—parent company of Borsan Cable—continues its growth through an unwavering appetite for investment and development, Akay added: “In addition to our green energy transition, energy efficiency, and management investments totaling nearly USD 11.5 million between 2022 and 2025, we broke ground in March on our new Integrated Production Facility, which we are building with an investment of USD 180 million. Set to become one of Türkiye’s most modern and advanced industrial facilities, the plant is expected to become operational within three years. With this project, we anticipate an increase of approximately 150% in production capacity and the creation of 400 new jobs—further strengthening our contribution to both regional and national economies.
Designed with environmentally friendly production processes, our Integrated Production Facility will also meet its water needs through rainwater harvesting in addition to green energy use. On the other hand, our lighting subsidiary Borled has launched investments worth USD 25 million as of January this year, in partnership with our China-based technology partner, focusing on technology transfer, R&D, and capacity expansion. As a result, the total investment volume covering the past three years and extending into the next three years is approaching USD 210 million at current exchange rates. Our internal and marketing investments continue to accelerate as part of Borsan Cable’s global brand journey.”
Borsan Cable’s 2025 energy efficiency projects focus on expanding solar energy system capacity, implementing technological transformation in production, deploying industrial heating and insulation solutions, and increasing the use of renewable energy. The company aims to upgrade its production equipment to systems with lower energy consumption and to reduce its carbon emissions.
Significant investments are also being made in heat insulation and temperature control systems to minimize energy loss. Through insulation projects implemented in the factories, energy consumption in production will be optimized and significant annual energy savings will be achieved.
As part of these projects, insulation systems will be strengthened to prevent heat loss, enabling machines to achieve higher performance with lower energy consumption. Additionally, the company plans to install closed-loop water cooling systems to reduce water usage and achieve its sustainable production goals.
With its 40-year legacy and a strong and competitive position in Türkiye and across a wide export geography of nearly 100 countries, Borsan took its place at the A-Tech Fair, held from October 1-4, 2025, at the Istanbul Expo Center.
