History
Seamless Energy Flow for a Greener Future. Since 1984.
Borsan's rich history is a tale of a relentless appetite for continuous investment and development, focused on customers and value, built on Human, Trust, Passion.
The roots of Borsan were planted with the entrepreneurial spirit of Adnan Ölmez, our founder. This step, which formed the basis for Borsan's future appetite for growth and investment, marked the beginning of a journey focused on People, Trust, and Passion.
Borsan started its first production with 8 employees. While the foundations of an industrial giant were being laid in a modest workshop, the philosophy of meeting the existing market need with quality production began to shape the future from day one.
A sales organization was established within Borsan. The philosophy of bringing the quality in production directly to the market and building a lasting bond with the customer was transformed into a concrete structure within Borsan with this step.
Production of lighting products began within Borsan. The visionary approach of accurately reading market dynamics and diversifying product offerings began to evolve into new products on new production lines.
Borsan made its first export to Lithuania. Our export drive, which has carried us to nearly 100 countries where we are the market leader in more than 10 of them today, began with that bold first step into the competitive market of a newly independent country.
A new chapter of industrialization in Borsan’s journey began with the Copper Cable Production Facility, as production was relocated to the new factory. The ambition for growth and the appetite for investment gave life to a concrete production infrastructure that forms the basis of our industrial strength today.
The copper cable and PVC granule production facility became operational. Modern efficiency and quality approaches materialized with this investment, which formed the first link in our fully integrated production power.
Borsan transitioned into a fully integrated production facility with the introduction of Copper Casting and Granule Lines. All links in the production chain, from raw material input to the final product, were united with this step to ensure uncompromising control and flexibility in quality.
The copper smelting facility was commissioned. The fully integrated structure, which brought together all links of the production chain, expanded with this step through our determination to master the process starting from the purest form of the raw material.
The acquisition of Yılka Cable was the first inorganic growth step for Borsan, Türkiye's growing industrial power. The Borsan growth journey gained new momentum and dimension with this investment.
Inorganic growth extended beyond Türkiye's borders with the acquisition of Salvi Cavi in Italy. The rising competitive power in world markets reached a new dimension with the decision to incorporate a foreign asset into the Borsan structure.
Borsan established its aluminum cable production facility. Our expertise in copper conductor power and low-voltage cables extended to aluminum conductor power and low-voltage cables, in line with the latest developments in energy and data transmission technologies and the market.
The establishment of the LED Lighting Facility was a significant organic growth step in Borsan's development. Our accumulated knowledge in lighting products matured, forming the foundations of Borled, which today contributes to strengthening the "Made in Türkiye" perception in world markets as a separate brand and legal entity.
The momentum of corporate structuring gained a new dimension with Change Management, focusing on creating greater value for our customers and all stakeholders. Key process transformations such as corporate governance, sustainability, and digital transformation, with all their concepts, were made a part of the business culture to shape the company's future.
Our Borsan R&D Center, established within our Borsan aluminum conductor cable production facility, was officially registered by the T.C. Ministry of Industry and Technology on November 29, 2018.
In partnership with Adnan Ölmez and Assaad Joseph Azar, a cable and lighting production facility was established in West Africa. The facility, manufacturing with raw materials exported from Türkiye, successfully began selling Borsan-branded products in the region after its commissioning.
Beyond meeting 100% of its energy needs with renewable sources through sustainability investments, Borsan reached an installed capacity of 13.2 Megawatts. Our fundamental commitment, "Uninterrupted energy for a green future," was transformed into this concrete step through the sustainability vision we placed at the core of our business.
In our fortieth year, while further increasing our momentum on the journey to become a world brand, we have also taken steps on the path of social contribution to establish the Adnan Ölmez Foundation, named after our founder.
In March 2025, we held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Borsan Cable Integrated Production Facilities, which we will bring to life over a 3-year period with an investment of 180 million dollars as one of Türkiye's most modern and well-equipped industrial facilities. Once the facility becomes operational within 3 years, it will increase production capacity by approximately 150% and create 400 new jobs, further elevating our contributions to the regional and national economy.
Within Borsan Cable, which adopts integrated management in its business and sustainability strategies, an investment of approximately 3.3 million dollars will also be made in the field of Energy Efficiency and Management in 2025.
As of January 2025, Borsan Group, which includes Borsan Cable, is implementing investments of approximately 25 million dollars for its lighting company, Borled, in collaboration with its China-based technology partner. These investments focus on technology transfer, R&D, and capacity increase.
